Rio Tinto CEO predicts global lithium demand will increase to 4-5 million tons per year

Rio Tinto Group CEO Shi Daocheng recently said that the global annual demand for lithium is expected to increase to 4 million to 5 million tons in the future. Despite the current low lithium prices, Rio Tinto still decided to expand its layout in the lithium industry. On March 7 this year, Rio Tinto officially completed the acquisition of Acadim Lithium Co., Ltd. for US$6.7 billion. Acadim Lithium will be renamed Rio Tinto Lithium and will be integrated with Rio Tinto's Rincon lithium project.
