According to three people familiar with the matter, Arm, the world's largest semiconductor IP company under SoftBank, is seeking to acquire Alphawave, the world's fourth largest semiconductor IP company, to obtain key technologies for AI processors. However, after preliminary discussions with Alphawave, Arm has decided not to move forward with the acquisition. At the same time, Qualcomm has also expressed its intention to acquire Alphawave. According to UK acquisition rules, Qualcomm must make a clear offer before April 29, otherwise it will be deemed to have given up the acquisition.
