UMC expands new plant in Singapore, expects to increase production capacity to over 1 million 12-inch wafers per year

UMC held an opening ceremony for the expansion of its new plant in Singapore on April 1. The first phase of the new plant will start mass production in 2026, and is expected to increase the total production capacity of UMC's Singapore Fab 12i to more than 1 million 12-inch wafers per year. The new plant will become one of Singapore's most advanced semiconductor wafer foundries, mainly providing semiconductor chips for communications, the Internet of Things (IoT), automotive and artificial intelligence (AI) innovation fields.
