Intel and TSMC reach preliminary agreement to establish a joint venture

According to people familiar with the matter, Intel and TSMC have reached a preliminary cooperation agreement to jointly create a joint venture and jointly operate Intel's new chip manufacturing plant in the United States. This move, supported by the White House and the U.S. Department of Commerce, is intended to help Intel seize more opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence semiconductors and catch up in the chip manufacturing competition. According to the preliminary agreement, TSMC will hold approximately 20% of the shares of the joint venture, while the remaining shares will be held by Intel and other U.S. investors.
