Apple urgently airlifts iPhones to the U.S. in response to impending tariffs

Apple reportedly took emergency action on April 8, with five cargo planes loaded with iPhones and other products taking off from India and heading directly to the United States. The move was to circumvent the 10% "reciprocal tariff" that took effect on April 5. The United States will also implement a 26% reciprocal tariff on April 9, which will increase the tariff on Indian-made iPhones from 26% to 34%. If calculated at the new tax rate, the import cost of each iPhone will increase by $120-420, equivalent to 15%-26% of its selling price.
