Waymo begins self-driving testing in Tokyo

Waymo, the self-driving division of Google's parent company Alphabet, announced that it will begin collecting data through human-driven test vehicles in Tokyo, Japan next week. This will mark the company's first vehicle testing on public roads outside the United States. Waymo will deploy 25 Jaguar I-PACE all-electric SUVs operated by human drivers to map major areas of the Japanese capital and gain a deep understanding of local transportation infrastructure and driving behavior patterns.
