According to the Canadian Auto Workers Union Unifor confirmed on April 12 local time, General Motors will suspend production at the CAMI assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, which will affect the employment of hundreds of employees. According to the announcement, the suspension plan will be carried out in three stages. The first round of layoffs will be launched on April 14. After the partial production capacity is restored in May, the plant will enter a 17-month suspension period until it restarts in October 2025. GM said that when production resumes in October this year, the plant will operate on a single shift for the foreseeable future, which will also cause 500 workers to be unemployed indefinitely.
