Tenstorrent, a Toronto-based contract semiconductor design company, said on Thursday that it is preparing to take on design contracts for advanced chips in Japan and plans to increase the number of engineers in Japan by more than six times. With the support of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Tenstorrent has been training Japanese engineers at its U.S. plant. Currently, the company has about 15 engineers in Japan and expects to increase that to more than 100 by the end of this year.
