Japanese automakers team up to develop new chips to counter Chinese competition

Faced with China's rapid development in electric vehicles and autonomous driving, Japanese automakers Toyota, Honda and Nissan decided to join forces to jointly develop new chips. The goal of the alliance, called ASRA, is to reduce costs, speed up the research and development process, and regain lost market share. The project is reportedly expected to launch the first batch of chips in 2029.
