Toyota and Daimler to merge truck divisions

Hino Motors, a subsidiary of Toyota Motor of Japan, and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck of Germany, have started negotiations on a final agreement for a business merger. The two parties will set up a holding company and strive to be listed in Tokyo by April 2026. Commercial vehicles will undergo structural transformation such as electrification and autonomous driving.
