Nissan plans to close its vehicle production plant in Wuhan by March 31, 2026. The plant, with a designed annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles, mainly produces Ariya electric vehicles and X-Trail SUVs, but its operating conditions have declined significantly amid fierce local competition, with annual production remaining at only about 10,000 vehicles. The plant is leased by Nissan from Dongfeng Motor. It is expected to record a net loss of 700 billion to 750 billion yen in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025.
