Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASM's orders exceeded expectations in the first quarter, mainly due to high demand for chip manufacturing equipment in artificial intelligence-related fields and strong sales in the Chinese market. According to a statement released by ASM, orders in the three months ending March increased by 14% year-on-year at constant exchange rates to 834 million euros (about 951 million US dollars), exceeding analysts' average expectation of 808 million euros.
