BYD is planning to launch a new micro electric vehicle, which is expected to be launched in Japan in 2026. BYD's new car plan has aroused concerns among Japanese automakers, especially companies such as Suzuki, Subaru and Nissan that rely on the light vehicle market. A Suzuki dealer said that if BYD launches low-priced models in Japan, it will bring huge competitive pressure. In the Japanese market, BYD has achieved initial success, selling 2,223 electric vehicles in 2024, accounting for 4% of the market share.
