Market performance of Korean electric vehicle battery companies

In the first quarter of 2025, the total installed capacity of electric vehicle batteries in the world reached 221.8GWh, a year-on-year increase of 38.8%. Among them, the market share of CATL, BYD and LG Energy Solution reached 65.7%, an increase of 2.1 percentage points over the same period last year. The combined market share of South Korea's three major battery companies LG Energy Solution, SK On and Samsung SDI was 18.7%, a decrease of 4.6 percentage points over the same period last year. LG Energy Solution's installed capacity was 23.8GWh, a year-on-year increase of 15.1%; SK On's installed capacity was 10.5GWh, a year-on-year increase of 35.6%; Samsung SDI's installed capacity was 7.3GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 17.2%.
