Concealed door handle design sparks controversy, MIIT initiates safety standard formulation

The design of hidden door handles has attracted much attention in the automotive industry. Although it is regarded as a symbol of technology by brands such as Tesla, the safety hazards in its actual use cannot be ignored. To this end, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched the formulation of the "Technical Requirements for Safety of Automobile Door Handles" on May 8, aiming to solve the safety problems of hidden door handles. The standard will cover aspects such as mechanical redundancy design, power-off protection, and labeling specifications, with special attention to problems that have occurred frequently in recent years, such as power-off failure, difficulty in identification, and the risk of pinching fingers.
