On the afternoon of May 14, the relevant person in charge of Pony.ai responded that a vehicle fire did occur. At about 9:30 a.m. on May 13, a Pony.ai vehicle was detected to be in an abnormal state during operation, and the vehicle triggered the protection mechanism to make an emergency stop, causing no casualties. A staff member of the Urban Operation Bureau of Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone told reporters that the vehicle caught fire during the secondary ignition. Some netizens reported that the Pony.ai taxi app in Beijing has displayed a notice of suspension of operations.
