South Africa's automotive market to continue growing by April 2025

In April 2025, the South African automobile market maintained its growth momentum, with sales increasing by 11.9% year-on-year and cumulative sales exceeding 180,000 units. Toyota and Suzuki continued to lead the market, while the Volkswagen Group declined. Brands such as Hyundai, Mahindra and Great Wall Motors showed strong growth momentum. In April 2025, the South African new car market sales reached 42,401 units, and Toyota's sales in the South African market reached 10,363 units, a year-on-year increase of 21.3%, with a market share of 24.4%. Suzuki ranked second with 5,977 units and a share of 14.1%, a year-on-year increase of 22.2%.
