China releases new standard for automatic emergency braking systems for light vehicles

China's National Standardization Administration issued a new mandatory national standard in May 2025 requiring light vehicles to be equipped with an automatic emergency braking system (AEBS). The new standard will be officially implemented on January 1, 2027, when all new M1 and N1 vehicles applying for type approval must comply with the new standard.
