7-Eleven Japan recently announced that it will trial a robot delivery service in the Minami-Osawa area of Hachioji City, Tokyo, from stores to customers' homes. The service will last until the end of February next year. The robot was jointly developed by Suzuki and Lomby, and can recognize traffic lights and pedestrians through cameras and drive autonomously. The delivery fee is 330 yen (about RMB 16.4). This move is aimed at addressing the shortage of manpower caused by the declining birthrate and aging population.
