South Korea launches polymer-based solid-state battery research project

South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that it will launch a research project focusing on the development of polymer-based solid-state battery technology. The project involves cooperation among Amo Greentech, Chungnam National University and the Korea Institute of Photonics Technology. The planned period is from this year to 2028, with a total investment of 35.8 billion won, of which the government will contribute 25 billion won and the private sector will contribute 10.8 billion won. The battery is mainly aimed at the small IT and wearable device markets, such as smart watches, VR headsets, wireless headphones and smart rings, and has the characteristics of light weight, high energy density and high safety.
