BYD's insurance business suffers heavy losses

BYD, a domestic new energy vehicle giant, had an insurance business income of 1.351 billion yuan in 2024, but its combined cost rate was as high as 308.8%, resulting in a net loss of 169 million yuan for the whole year. This reflects the common problems in the new energy vehicle insurance industry: high accident rate and high maintenance costs.
