United Optoelectronics plans to acquire Changyi Optoelectronics to expand into the security lens market

United Optoelectronics (300691.SZ) plans to acquire 100% of Changyi Optoelectronics by issuing shares and raising supporting funds. Changyi Optoelectronics mainly produces mid- and low-end security lenses, and its customers include Allianz Sharp Vision and Ruilian Technology. The acquisition is expected to enhance United Optoelectronics' competitiveness in the security lens market. The latter is the OEM partner of Sunny Optical's low-specification mobile phone lenses. The acquisition may mean that United Optoelectronics will enter the mobile phone lens market in a big way and compete with Sunny Optical.
