Sales of Chinese-branded cars surge in Southeast Asian markets

In the first quarter of 2025, sales of Chinese-branded cars in the four major markets of Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines) increased by more than 58% year-on-year to 67,558 units. Chinese brands' market share in the region has exceeded 10%, a significant increase from 6% in the same period last year. BYD, Chery and SAIC Group account for more than 70% of China's car sales.
