Starting from 2026, vehicles that only control key driving functions through touch screens will not be able to obtain the highest five-star safety rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (E-NCAP). E-NCAP believes that excessive reliance on touch screen operations will force drivers to distract themselves from looking at the screen, significantly increasing the risk of accidents. It is not yet known whether China will follow suit.
