In May 2025, the electrification trend of the Australian automobile market was obvious, with gasoline sales falling 9% to 41,147 units, diesel sales falling 1.1% to 34,115 units, and hybrid sales increasing 5.5% to 17,089 units. Pure electric vehicles performed particularly well, increasing 10.4% year-on-year to 10,065 units, accounting for 9.2% of total sales. Although plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) no longer enjoy tax incentives from April 1, their sales still surged 117.6% year-on-year to 3,081 units.
