France’s ambitions in the semiconductor industry

French President Emmanuel Macron said at the VivaTech conference in Paris that France must master the manufacturing capabilities of 2-10 nanometer advanced process semiconductors in order to occupy an irreplaceable position in the global technology supply chain. France's advantages in the semiconductor field are mainly concentrated in mature processes and specific application areas. The "France 2030" investment plan lists semiconductors as one of the seven major disruptive innovation areas and clearly proposes to invest 5.5 billion euros in special funds by 2030.
