SoftBank Group's acquisition of semiconductor design company Ampere Computing is facing a potentially protracted investigation by the US government. The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has launched an in-depth investigation into the acquisition. SoftBank announced in March 2025 that it would acquire Ampere in an all-cash deal valued at $6.5 billion.
