Powertrain Trends in the French Automotive Market

In June 2025, the French passenger car market fell by 6.7% year-on-year, with total sales of 169,504 vehicles. Cumulative sales in the first half of the year were 842,203 vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 7.9%. From the perspective of powertrain, the French market is accelerating its transition to electrification. Sales of traditional gasoline vehicles fell sharply by 30.7% year-on-year, and the market share shrank to 22.3%; diesel vehicles fell sharply by 40%, leaving only 9,738 vehicles, and the proportion fell to 5.7%. Hybrid models rose against the trend by 19.5%, accounting for 43.9%, nearly half, and have become the main force in the market.
