OpenAI completes $6.5 billion acquisition of former Apple designer Jony Ive's startup

OpenAI announced that it has completed the acquisition of io Products, Inc., a startup founded by former Apple chief designer Jony Ive. This acquisition is the largest in OpenAI's history, with a transaction amount of nearly $6.5 billion. After the acquisition, io's co-founders Scott Cannon, Evans Hankey and Tang Tan, as well as about 50 io engineers, designers and researchers have joined OpenAI.
