Malaysia will implement a licensing system for the export and transshipment of high-performance American artificial intelligence (AI) chips, indicating that the government intends to prevent sensitive chips from being resold to China and other regions. The Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry issued a statement on Monday (14th) stating that if an individual/enterprise knows or has reasonable grounds to suspect that the relevant goods may be abused or used in restricted activities, they must notify the competent authority at least 30 days before export, transshipment or transit and apply for a license.
