Leoni, a well-known German automotive wiring harness manufacturer, announced that it plans to close its factory in Malošište, Doljevac, southeastern Serbia by the end of 2025, with 1,900 layoffs. Leoni Wiring Systems Southeast, a Serbian subsidiary of Leoni, said in a statement that the Malošište factory has been highly dependent on manual labor in recent years, with low unit output efficiency and continuous operating losses. In addition, the overall demand of the European automotive industry has declined. The company has decided to gradually reduce production capacity and completely stop the operation of the factory by the end of 2025.
