GM plans to produce low-cost batteries at its joint venture plant with LG Energy Solution in Tennessee. The automaker is advancing production of lithium iron phosphate batteries, a technology that is becoming increasingly popular among U.S. automakers. GM said it will begin converting battery production lines at its Spring Hill, Tennessee, plant later this year, with commercial production expected to begin by the end of 2027.
