BMW plans to restart the extended-range power system to solve the problem of insufficient charging facilities in Europe. The first model equipped with the extended-range system may be the sixth-generation X5. At the same time, the second-generation X7 and the sixth-generation X3 are also evaluating the feasibility of the extended-range power configuration. BMW once considered cooperating with SERES to develop an extended-range vehicle, but due to the unsuccessful cooperation process, it was finally decided to let the German headquarters take charge, and the Chinese team actively cooperated in the research and development. It is expected that it will not be implemented until 2027-2028 at the earliest.
