Apple closes its China retail stores for the first time

Apple announced on Monday that it will close its Centennial City store in Dalian's Zhongshan District on August 9th due to changes in the shopping mall landscape. This is one of approximately 56 Apple stores in Greater China, representing over 10% of its more than 530 stores worldwide. Apple said it will offer alternative job opportunities to employees at the closing store. In addition, Apple plans to open new stores in cities such as Shenzhen, Beijing, and Shanghai.
