Trump and von der Leyen sign new trade deal

US President Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reached a new trade agreement on July 27, 2025. Under the agreement, the US will impose a 15% tariff on most goods from the EU, a significant reduction from the previously threatened 30%. At the same time, the EU pledged an additional $600 billion in investments in the US and purchases of $750 billion worth of US energy products.
