SMIC plans to acquire shares of SMIC North

Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) announced that it is planning to acquire a minority stake in its controlling subsidiary, SMIC North Semiconductor Manufacturing (Beijing) Co., Ltd., through the issuance of RMB-denominated common stock. The underlying asset in this transaction is the counterparty's combined 49% stake in SMIC North Semiconductor Manufacturing (Beijing). Due to the uncertainty surrounding the relevant matters, trading in the company's shares will be suspended starting September 1, 2025, for an estimated duration of no more than 10 trading days.
