Intel adjusts CHIP Act funding agreement, receives $5.7 billion in cash

Intel has amended its CHIPS Act funding agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce, eliminating early project milestones and receiving approximately $5.7 billion in cash upfront. The revised agreement retains some restrictions, including prohibitions on using the funds for dividends and buybacks, certain change-of-control transactions, and expansion in certain countries.
