The United States has revoked TSMC's license to freely transport key equipment from its main chip manufacturing base in mainland China. This decision will affect the operations of TSMC's Nanjing plant, potentially leading to reduced supply chain efficiency, restrictions on capacity expansion and technology upgrades, and increased time and administrative costs caused by the license application process. TSMC stated: "The company has received notification from the US government that TSMC Nanjing's VEU authorization will be officially revoked on December 31, 2025. We are evaluating the situation and taking appropriate measures, including maintaining communication with the US government, but TSMC will continue to make every effort to ensure the continued operation of the Nanjing plant."
