Illegal residents arrested at Georgia electric vehicle battery plant

Approximately 450 people were arrested at the construction site of an electric vehicle battery factory jointly owned by Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution in Georgia. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a search and seizure operation. The site employs approximately 900 construction workers and 1,500 manufacturing professionals. The HL-GA factory is under construction and is expected to be completed next year. The total investment is $7.59 billion and will create approximately 8,500 jobs.
