AMD has stopped starting new wafer production for its custom MI300 AI GPU in China

AMD Chief Financial Officer Su-Hui Hu revealed at a conference yesterday that the company has stopped starting new wafer production for its customized MI300 AI GPU for China. AMD Vice President of Investor Relations Matthew Ramsey added that clarity on the licensing approvals for Chinese chips is a key factor in deciding whether to continue increasing investment in AI chips in China.
