Ford plans massive layoffs at German plants

Ford Motor Company announced plans to lay off up to 1,000 employees at its Cologne, Germany, plant due to sluggish demand for electric vehicles. The layoffs will take effect in early 2026, reducing the plant's production shift from two to one. Ford invested $2 billion in the Cologne plant to convert it to electric vehicle production.
