The state takes action to rectify the safety hazards of car door handles

749
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) recently issued new regulations prohibiting the use of fully concealed door handles and requiring every vehicle door to be equipped with an exterior handle with a mechanical release function to ensure adequate hand clearance. The new regulations aim to address the issue of door handles being unable to deploy due to electrical failures, thus reducing the difficulty of escape and rescue in accidents. The new regulations will take effect on January 1, 2027, with a transition period to allow automakers to adjust their designs.
