Giants are betting on sodium-ion batteries

Companies such as Haina Technology, CATL, and BYD have increased their investment in sodium-ion batteries. In December 2022, Haina Technology was the first to complete the construction of a 1GWh sodium-ion battery factory. CATL has launched the "Shenxing Sodium Battery," which it plans to use as a start-stop battery for trucks, replacing lead-acid batteries. BYD plans to commission a sodium-ion battery factory in 2024, with a planned annual production capacity of up to 30GWh.
