Tesla's AI5 chip production will be jointly handled by Samsung and TSMC

Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently announced that Samsung Electronics will participate in the production of Tesla's independently developed artificial intelligence (AI) chip, the "AI5." This marks Samsung's participation not only in the production of the next-generation AI6 chip, but also in the joint production of the AI5 with TSMC, which was previously believed to be produced entirely by TSMC. Samsung manufactures Tesla's current-generation self-driving chip, the AI4. The AI5 is expected to enter mass production by the end of 2026, with a target performance of 2500 teraflops.
