New car registrations in France increased by 2.9% year-on-year, but were still lower than the same period in 2019.

In October, new car registrations in France reached 139,513 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%. Although this marks the third consecutive month of growth, it is still 26.2% lower than the same period in 2019 before the pandemic. Looking at the powertrain mix, sales of gasoline vehicles continued to decline, with gasoline models falling by 26.5% year-on-year to a market share of only 19.2%. Diesel vehicles saw an even steeper drop to just 4.2%. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) declined by 14.4%, while traditional hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) grew by 7.5%, reaching a market share of 42.2%.
