Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Sumitomo Chemical jointly establish a semiconductor glass substrate joint venture.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEM) announced a collaboration with Sumitomo Chemical Group to establish a joint venture called "Glass Core," focusing on the research and development and production of semiconductor glass substrates. SEM will hold at least a 50% stake, while Sumitomo Chemical will participate as the major investor. The joint venture will be headquartered at the Pyeongtaek plant of Sumitomo Chemical's subsidiary, Dongwoo Seika. This collaboration marks a significant advancement for SEM in its glass substrate supply chain and production system.
