Russia's first gigafactory for power and energy storage batteries, with a capacity of 4 GWh, officially commenced production in the Nemansky District of Kaliningrad Oblast. The factory was built by the renowned Russian nuclear energy company, Atomic Energy Corporation. The gigafactory is planned to have a total capacity of 4 GWh, equivalent to approximately 1.5 million charging modules or enough batteries to power tens of thousands of electric vehicles. However, the factory is not only designed for transportation; the company is also considering broader applications, including energy storage, logistics, and industrial equipment. They are attempting to establish a dedicated ecosystem around batteries, encompassing the entire process from production to use, to support the development of electric vehicle transportation and energy storage, among other sectors.
