Wolfspeed announced on its website that it has successfully developed a 12-inch SiC single-crystal substrate, which will help drive the development of next-generation computing platforms, immersive AR/VR systems, and high-efficiency power devices. Elif Balkas, the company's Chief Technology Officer, stated that this technological achievement is the result of the company's years of innovation in ingot growth and substrate processing. The 12-inch platform combines high-volume silicon carbide manufacturing technology for power electronic devices with semi-insulating substrate technology, and is expected to support new wafer-level integration in fields such as optics, photonics, thermal management, and power.
