BorgWarner aims for a major breakthrough in its new energy business in China by 2025.

In February 2025, BorgWarner signed four new energy motor projects with three Chinese domestic brands, covering various technical routes and voltage platforms, including hybrid and pure electric. These orders include: providing a 400V high-voltage hairpin (HVH) motor to a leading Chinese new energy system supplier for its 200kW hybrid platform rear-wheel-drive system models, with mass production planned for August 2025; providing a motor to a leading Chinese domestic automaker for its 150kW pure electric system platform models, with mass production planned for March 2026; and providing a motor to another leading Chinese domestic automaker for its next-generation models, used in its range-extended and plug-in hybrid vehicles, with mass production planned for August and October 2025, respectively.
