In January 2026, new car sales in South Africa increased by 7.5% year-on-year to 50,073 units, of which Chinese brands accounted for 11,118 units, representing a market share of 22.2%, second only to Japanese brands at 43.5%. Chery Group performed particularly well, with Chery, Jetour, Omoda, and Jaecoo collectively selling 5,221 units, achieving a market share of 10.4%, surpassing Volkswagen and ranking third among brands.
